Project Journal: Three Years Later at Slack Tide Brewery Near Avalon, NJ
A look back at approximately 35 Green Giants we planted for screening at a new brewery near Avalon.
About three years ago, Caleb and I planted around 35 Green Giant arborvitae at Slack Tide Brewery near Avalon, New Jersey. The brewery was new construction at the time, and the township required screening along the property.
We recently got a chance to see the trees again, and they’re doing great.
From New Planting to a Growing Screen
When we first planted them, much of the property was still freshly graded and under construction. We installed the Green Giants along the edges of the property where they could eventually provide a natural screen between the brewery and the neighbors next door.
The original planting while the brewery property was still being developed.
Three years later, the difference is easy to see. The trees have grown and filled out, and the row is starting to become the substantial evergreen screen it was planted to be.
Three years of growth have turned the young planting into a much fuller privacy screen.
Trees That Keep Getting Better
One of the nice things about going back to an older project is getting to see the long-term result. The brewery is doing great, the trees are doing great, and they’ll continue getting taller and denser as the screen matures.
